DESIGN OF A MULTI JET SPRAY CONDENSER TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE OF STEAM CONDENSATION CRYSTALLIZATION SYSTEM AT PG RAJAWALI II, TERSANA BARU
Abstract
The sugar factory cooking process is the most important process because it produces a product in the form of granulated sugar crystals. Technological advances in vacuum equipment for the sugar cooking process are the use of condensers by retrofitting multi-jet spray type condensers which have several advantages, including no need for a pump for the vacuum process, more cost-effective maintenance and space saving. The existing condenser is a counter current barometric type. The final results of the Aspen Plus simulation are calculated when the cooking process uses a multi-jet spray condenser replacement showing several improvements in the form of injection (cooling) water savings of 13.48% with a decrease in condensate temperature to 42.64°C with the same heat duty, heat exchange area to 1131.01 m² and annual energy savings of 0.704x10⁵ kWh. As well as technical economics, the profit NPV is Rp. 74,105,366.4 and the investment payback period will return within 27 months.
