Author Guidelines

ARTICLE WRITING GUIDELINES

This guideline provides explanations to assist authors in preparing papers for publication in Potensi: Jurnal Sipil Politeknik, so that there is consistency in writing between papers. This guideline provides guidance on layout, style, illustrations, references, and serves as a model for authors to emulate. Without following these specifications, papers that do not meet the established standards will not be published.

A.     GENERAL GUIDELINES

Manuscripts must be in Indonesian or English and presented on A4 paper (210 mm x 297 mm) written in 1 (one) COLUMN format with margins of 2.5 cm from the top and bottom, and 1.5 cm from the left and right.

B.     TECHNICAL GUIDELINES

                                                                                         Title

The full title of the manuscript must be written in the middle of the first page. This is followed by an abstract written as ABSTRACT, then keywords written in no more than six words. The text must be typed with single spacing, using the same font as that used in the text (Times New Roman, 10 point). Paragraphs must be separated by single spacing. Each manuscript must not exceed ten (10) pages including illustrations, tables, and references. The paper must be submitted as a word document.

                                                                                    Abstract

1. INTRODUCTION

The introduction should contain the background of the research, related research that has existed, the expectations to be achieved from the writing, the scientific benefits and novelty of the writing and the purpose of writing and research methods. Generally the introduction is not too extensive, around 2 pages of single spacing;

2. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

The results and discussion is written clearly and concisely containing the findings of the research results, differences between the results or findings of the research and previous writings from other researchers; The discussion contains a description and analysis of the research results. The results and discussion can be combined appropriately or can use small subtitles according to the needs of the discussion.

2.1    Sub-Sections and Sub-sections

Sections and subsections should be numbered and titled as follows 1, 2, etc. and 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 2.2.1, etc. Capital letters should be used for section titles. For subsections, the first letter of each word should be capitalized followed by lower case letters.

2.1.1 Identifications

Please avoid using headers, footers or page numbers in the submitted paper. These will be added to the final publication in the journal by the Committee.

2.2 Abbreviations and Acronyms

Define abbreviations and acronyms the first time they are used in the text, even after they are defined in the Abstract. Abbreviations such as IEEE, SI, MKS, CGS, AC, DC, and RMS do not need to be defined. Do not use abbreviations in the title unless it is unavoidable.

3. Table and Figure

Numbering should be given to figures and tables. For example, Figure 1, Figure 2, etc. Figure numbers and titles should be placed below the figures, and table numbers and titles should be placed at the top of the table. The first letter of the title should be placed in the center of the page between the left and right margins. Tables, illustrations and corresponding text should be placed on the same page as much as possible. If not, they can be placed directly on the next page. Their size should be smaller than the available area.

4.    EQUATIONS

When numbering equations, place the appropriate number in parentheses and position the number to the right of the text field. Equations should be typed and not copied and pasted.

Example:

 Z = c0 + c1 X1 + c2 X2 + c3 X3 + c4 X4        (1)

5. CITATIONS AND REFERENCES

The citation number is written sequentially in square brackets [1]. The sentence read is followed by brackets [2]. Look only for the reference number, as in [3]. Do not use Ref. [3] or reference [3] except at the beginning of a sentence. In general, references are written using IEEE style.

Please note that references at the end of this document are the expected referencing style. Give all authors' names, do not use "et.al." unless there are six or more authors. Use a space after the author's initials. Unpublished papers, even if submitted for publication, should be referred to as "unpublished" [4]. Papers accepted for publication should be referred to as "in press" [5].

Capitalize only the first sentence of the paper title, except for proper nouns and element symbols. For papers published in translated journals, please give the English citation first, followed by the original foreign language citation [6].

6. DISCUSSION

Use zeros before the decimal point: “0.25,” not “.25.” Use “cm3,” not “cc.” Indicate sample dimensions as “0.1 cm x 0.2 cm,” not “0.1 x 0.2 cm.” The abbreviation for “second” is “s,” not “sec.” When expressing multiple values, write “7 to 9” or “7-9”, not “7~9”. Spell out the unit when it appears in the text “…. a few henries,” not “…. a few H”.

7. CONCLUSIONS

Finally, you are responsible for the language of the paper, the editor will not check it. Do a spelling and grammar check. This is already available in Word software.
